Joining the Nation Respected Defence Forces after completing inter(10+2) is a dream for many young aspirants. It transforms life of discipline, honor, and patriotism, along with secure career opportunities and meaningful life. There are so many pathways into the Indian Army,  Indian Navy, Indian Air Force and Indian coastguard for students who have passed their 12th grade.
1. National Defence Academy (NDA)
- Eligibility: Male candidates aged 16.5 to 19.5 years who have passed or are appearing in Class 12.
- Conducted by: UPSC (twice a year).
- Wings Covered: Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.
- Selection Process: Written exam, SSB interview, and medical examination.
- Training: 3 years at NDA (Khadakwasla, Pune) + 1 year at respective service academies.
- Women Entry: Since 2021, female candidates are also allowed through NDA with limited seats.
2. 10+2 B.Tech Cadet Entry Scheme (Indian Navy)
- Eligibility: Only for male candidates who passed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Maths (PCM) and appeared for JEE (Main).
- Age Limit: 16.5 to 19.5 years.
- Entry Mode: Shortlisting based on JEE (Main) scores followed by SSB interview.
- Training: 4-year B.Tech course at Indian Naval Academy (INA), Ezhimala.
3. Indian Air Force – Group X and Y Trades
- Eligibility:
- Group X (Technical): 10+2 with PCM and English, min 50% marks.
- Group Y (Non-Technical): 10+2 in any stream with 50% marks.
- Age Limit: 17 to 21 years.
- Selection: Online exam, physical test, adaptability tests, and medical exam.
4. Soldier Entry in Indian Army (Through Open Rallies)
- Eligibility:
- Soldier General Duty (GD): 10th/12th pass.
- Soldier Technical: 10+2 with PCM.
- Soldier Clerk: 10+2 with 60% aggregate.
- Age Limit: 17.5 to 21 years.
- Selection: Written exam (CEE), physical fitness test (PFT), and medical test through Army Recruitment Rallies.
5. Agnipath Scheme (Agniveer Entry)
- Launched: 2022.
- For: Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.
- Eligibility: 10th or 12th pass, depending on trade.
- Age Limit: 17.5 to 21 years (relaxation may vary year-wise).
- Service Duration: 4 years, with an opportunity for permanent selection for top performers.
- Benefits: Good salary, Seva Nidhi package(Nearly 10 lakhs), and post-service career opportunities (Priority in other defence forces like Indian Coastguard).
6. Coast Guard – Navik and Yantrik Posts
- Navik (General Duty): 10+2 with PCM.
- Yantrik (Technical): 10+2 with Diploma in Engineering.
- Age Limit: 18 to 22 years.
- Selection: Written test, physical fitness, and medical exam.
